TV & Film Editing Program: Overview
“There is a difference between knowing the path, and walking the path.”
— Morpheus,
The Matrix
Editing is part art, part science, part craft, and part business — developing your skills as an editor
demands that you to learn as much as you can about each of these different facets of editing.
From the golden era of Classic Hollywood cinema, to
the birth of digital cinema, the established tradition of
master editors training apprentices in the cutting
room continues at Video Symphony. Our students
learn the tools that enable them to achieve their
artistic vision and acquire the skills to get work in the
industry from masters of their craft.
Many universities and colleges offer only generalized
media studies, or only focus on history and theory, or
production. Video Symphony’s TV & Film Editing
Program is one of the most intensive professional
editing programs in the world because we specialize
in editing and post-production and we teach
why,
how-to, and
how to get the job done and get paid for
doing it, all at the same time.
Our program offers unique advantages:
• Small student to instructor ratio — 12 students per class (in most cases)
• Award-winning instructors
• Avid, Apple, and Adobe Certified courses and instructors
• Urban campus complex with 10 state-of-the-art classrooms & production suites
• Post-production Workshop courses with real projects & real clients
• Job Counseling and Placement after graduation
• Nationally accredited
• Financial aid is available
Video Symphony’s philosophy is “learn through doing.” Video Symphony’s TV & Film Editing Program
provides comprehensive hands-on training in a professional environment.
Applied aesthetics editing workshops hone student’s perceptions and artistic creative decision making
skills. Technical courses focus on developing students’ mastery of software and hardware tools. The
special Post Production Session and Real Life Experience courses provide students experience
working on real-life productions under the direction of a seasoned editor/trainer. Students are
intensively mentored by working industry professionals in our state-of-the-art classrooms and
production studios, while working on actual client based productions. Job counselors teach students
how to fine-tune their self-marketing and job search skills.
Editing is part art, part science, part craft, and part business — Video Symphony can teach you as
much as you want to learn about each of these.
