PT115 Intro to Audio Engineering Tools & Workflows
This course investigates the world of Audio Engineering from
both technical and creative perspectives, with a particular
focus on work flow.Topics include analog audio,digital audio,
sample rate, bit rate, Nyquist Theorem, level setting and
measuring, connectors (RCA, 1/4, XLR, balanced,
unbalanced), digital audio (AES/EBU, SPDIF, TDIF, ADAT,
optical), microphone basics, headroom, sends, returns,
inserts, EQ, compression, limiting, and dither. Further
discussion covers the use and interconnection of the devices
we commonly use in post production;mixers, what they do,
and how to use them correctly.Various video tape recorders
are also discussed, along with set-up and menu options.
