Brad Bucklin

Brad Bucklin brings a wealth of Hollywood experience and job placement expertise to Video Symphony. He is highly praised by students for the attention and care he provides them in job placement. We feel honored to have him serving at Video Symphony as a Job Placement Advisor.

Recently Brad was featured on L.A. Live as an expert consultant on resume and job search preparation. He has written numerous articles which have appeared in local and national publications. He has owned and operated CareerPro Resumes and Professional Literary Services for nineteen years where he prepares people for their job search as well as writes and edits a wide range of material for individual and corporate clients. And that's just his job placement/ preparation experience. His "Hollywood" experience and path is impressive too. He certainly knows "the biz" inside out.

Brad holds a Bachelor's Degree in English and Theatre from Windham College where he studied with John Irving. After moving to Los Angeles at 25, he worked as an actor for a number of years on such shows as "One Day At A Time," "Waverly Wonders," "Facts of Life," "Days of Our Lives," "Picket Fences" and in films that included "World War III," "Wavelength," "No Place to Hide" and more.

He was the Producing Partner at the Empty Stage Theatre, where he produced the play "Three," starring Felicia Day, which he co-wrote with former Groundling Director Stan Wells and has since turned into a hilarious screenplay Sex and the Modern Marriage. Brad also directed the original one acts "The Eros Thanatos Class" and "Twins" (Featuring Kristin Wigg) for the Award Winning Can Festival I & II. His 2004 his play "Mrs. Christmas" was featured in Can Festival III at the Avery Schrieber Theatre and which he recently made into an Award Winning short film. He has spearheaded, as well as Executive Produced, the Video Symphony teams 48 Hour Film Festival projects for the past 2 years. Currently working on 2 documentaries and prepping a feature film he has also formed Professional Filmmaking Alliance with fellow VS Instructor Kristian Gabriel.

Barbara Weintraub

As a Job Placement Advisor, Barbara helps place students in the entertainment industry and guides their careers. Having worked on movies, network TV shows, commercials, cable series, documentaries and owning a television production company for many years, she understands what employers want and has developed close industry relationships.

One of her early jobs was working with acclaimed producer Jerry Bruckheimer on Top Gun and Beverly Hills Cop. She was brought on to launch a new cable channel MovieTime, which later became E! Entertainment Television. While there she produced over 45 shows entitled The Hollywood Executive Report with top Hollywood Filmmakers.

She started her own production company producing numerous shows including a comedy special with Kelsey Grammer (An Affectionate Look at Fatherhood), a reality series for Womens Entertainment (Diva Detectives), an action adventure series for TNT (The New Adventures of Robin Hood) and many other television shows and numerous documentaries.

I know a lot of people in this business having hired and worked closely with post production professionals my entire career. I have a great reputation and people know when I call them about a student, they are getting highly qualified candidates for the job, comments Weintraub.

> Edward Arguelles Faces Reality

Avid Bootcamp graduate Edward Arguelles said, "I worked as an assistant editor on the reality series Growing up Gotti, then, during the summer, I worked on a reality series for PBS, Texas Ranch House as an associate editor." Arguelles added that the skills and knowledge he gained at Video Symphony "paved the road" to a lucrative career in Assistant Editing. He has assisted on several other reality programs, including Lovespell, Buff Enough, and the Big Man on Campus series for The WB network. "The skills I developed gave me confidence and a strong perspective on the art of editing."

> Paul Makkos hits the Industry

Paul Makkos, Avid Program graduate, has two "dream jobs". Makkos edits highlights and features for the Fox Sports network on NFL Sundays. "I'm actually cutting during the broadcasts, putting together the best plays, the top players, the great clips. I've become a very fast editor, very fast." Makkos's other dream job is as Associate Producer for Capricorn Productions on Direct TV, editing two video game review shows, Cybernet and V-Spot. "It's nice to have a front row seat at both Fox and Direct TV."

> Philippe Bergerioux, Trailer Editor

Who edits those fast-paced trailers for Hollywood movies? Video Symphony Avid Program graduate Philippe Bergerioux does. Bergerioux has been promoted from assistant to editor at Craig Murray Productions, a Burbank post-production company specializing in theatrical trailers and commercials. Murray's clients include Disney, Fox, Paramount and Buena Vista International. In his previous line of work, Bergerioux was a dancer and stunt actor. "That helped me a lot as I learned to edit". His stunt work eventually led to vocational rehab. "Video Symphony gave me the tools and the confidence to start a new career," he said. "I've been cutting movie trailers, promos and TV spots. Now I am looking forward to editing trailers for the new Pirates of the Caribbean 2 movie. That will be a fun challenge. I hear it's really good."

> Bill McShane at New Wave

Bill McShane completed the entire Avid Professional program in only 12 months, despite working several production jobs along the way. "I am now a full time assistant editor at New Wave Entertainment in Burbank."

McShane has edited bonus DVD materials for major films like Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, Ladder 49, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Batman Begins and network television programs. "With each class I took at Video Symphony, I gained more confidence and knowledge of the Avid, and before long I was on my second, then third freelance job. All in all, I feel the school rocks, and is a great idea for anyone driven to work in post-production."

> Christina Tucker's Dream Job

Christina Tucker is working at Universal Studios, applying her Pro Tools skills to ADR editing for several NBC shows, including Crossing Jordan, Hawaii, and Law and Order. Tucker had edited sound before, but credits Video Symphony instructors for her upgraded expertise. "The 'Job Workshop' class, along with my prior experience and a few connections, helped me find this dream job at Universal."

> Steve Schatz, Pro Tools Expert

Sound editor Steve Schatz has been editing and mixing at Fox Network, UCLA, and Todd/AO since graduating from Video Symphony's Pro Tools Program. "I'm thankful not only for the priceless education," Schatz reflects, "but also for the inspiring cast of staff members and students. Video Symphony is a place that will not make you feel alone. As an individual, you learn the tools to become an artist, but in the end it is a collective effort. I honestly feel I'm on my way to a great career."

> Briana Hamilton Meets King Kong - "Go Big Ape"

As 2005 wrapped, so did post-production for King Kong, Peter Jackson's epic-length live-action and digital remake of the 1933 classic. Video Symphony graduate Briana Hamilton has been in Wellington, New Zealand, working on the 21st Century version of cinema's most famous gorilla story. Previously, Hamilton and the Weta VFX team developed the digital "creatures" for Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and Return of the King, winner of 11 Oscars, including Best Visual Effects. "King Kong was my fifth major picture", Hamilton said, "but I still remember when I began classes at Video Symphony, asking myself, 'Can I really do this?'"

> Eve Gage Edits History

Eve Gage is an experienced editor who learned Avid at Video Symphony when Video Symphony was young. We include her among graduate stories, even though she graduated a while back, because we like her photo with the Emmy award. She's become a seasoned editor and has edited many PBS Nova programs since, including Emmy Award-winning Galileo's Battle for the Heavens, and Emmy-nominated The Wright Brothers' Flying Machine, "I love doing major historical programs", Gage says. "I love the storytelling, working with all the incredible images. For me, it's the joy of images."
