“Hey Vendor” To Screen on Jan 23rd & 24th at The Slamdance Film Festival

By Kate Logan | January 8, 2010

In a couple of weeks Hollywood will make it’s annual trek out to Park City, Utah for the Sundance and Slamdance film festivals. This year several Video Symphony alumni will be heading up there as well for the screening of the 09 Slamdance short screenplay contest winner, “Hey Vendor,” which was edited by Film & Video Editing program alumni Romain Vaunois with Nida Ball, also a VS alum, as the assistant editor and sound designer. VS Pro Tools Student, Theo Mordey did the final sound mix for the film.

“Hey Vendor” was produced through the Slamdance $99 Special Program, which gives the filmmakers $99 and 99 days to make a film. The intention of this filmmaking experiment is to give filmmakers a chance to practice their craft. Video Symphony teamed up with the 99$ Special program by doing what we do best – Post Production. Romain and Nida, who were hand picked by the Director Matt Harrison, assisted on set with P2 workflow and brought the film all the way through post production. Festival director Peter Baxter said that, “It was a great experience working with VS and its students.”

The film screens with Steven Soderbergh’s film “And Everything is Going Fine,” on Saturday evening, January 23rd at 7:30pm, and with the other $99 Specials on Sunday January 24th at 10:00am.
